John Fisher Notes Jan 22 & Another Free Play, CBB HC

LOSS George Washington wins by 4 ….this game was not Home Court advantage with the fans abandoning the arena for cover during the east coast blizzard….start time changes to 5pm and GW never got going into the second half. Three pointer by RI with 15 seconds left hurt the spread …

This game was close to being my Guarantee but these two teams play in a conference that has very little history putting games in the board. I find it interesting that decide to even put this game on the board when the majority of times it won’t be listed. We will hop on to the Albany Great Danes here. These two teams are similar in pace size and leadership to make this a DD favorite. Albany likes to create foul opportunities by driving to the basket. It’s not just one player. What’s amazing is the Great Danes have 6 players that have shot over 50 FTs. That is why they rank in the top 15 in nation with 48% of their opportunities coming from the charity stripe. Things will be a little different away from Home but nonetheless this keeps a team from being blown out. The Sea Wolves look prime to finally win a division title as long as these Danes don’t get in the way come conference tourney time. They are on a mission this year and have an excellent veteran team led by their big man Varney and McGrew. When you double on either one of them they make you pay withn3 point sharp shooter PG Purifoy who has made 40% of his three point attempts. Line should be 6.5/7 so we will go with Albany +9 here.
5 Stars

WINNER Albany +9 easy cover. Stony Brook 65-63 Albany plays the game the right way. Never too stagnant and always attacks the basket. That’s why 9 points was a huge line here. Stony Brook needs to figure out a better defense scheme or they will let a 4th title go for nothing during conference play. Albany is no garbage team.

These type of games can pop at you every so often. When a team is playing at Home and is playing great basketball Vegas has to really put a line high here. Much like the Stony Brook game last night. Northwestern is no Rutgers and will battle on every possession. 7’0 C Olah is getting back in shape and will play a role in helping the Wildcats compete with the Hoosiers. Northwestern could actually win this game if they control pace…..check out these Road games….OT loss at Maryland….25 point win at Minnesota…..9 point win at Nebraska…OT 8 pt win at DePaul…..OT 2 pt win at Virginia Tech….I like the two young guns that Coach Collins has with Soph McIntosh and Freshman Falzon. Take the 9 points here in what I find is a value play. 4 Stars Northwestern +9
