UTAH looked very impressive versus Duke as C Poetl warranted his claim to be a 1st round lottery pick. Stanford will struggle this year but next year be more formidable. This year they just don’t have enough Fire power to scare me from picking the better team today. Stanford get 25% of its production from the FT line this year. That won’t happen today because Utah is very good at staying out of foul trouble. Utah has better shooters in almost every position and C Poetl who is not guardable one on one. 4 STARS UTAH -3

FOUL TROUBLE EQUALS TROUBLE…..I reviewed on tape all Poetl fouls…he actually fouled twice one was border but two were phantom calls.
ONLY WAY STANFORD COVERED PLUS LOVERIDGE IS JUST AWFUL PLAYER.
LOSS….as mentioned only way UTAH wouldn’t cover is if Poetl got in foul trouble…he sat most of second half and fouled out and played less then half the game. Our 8 game streak ends as STANFORD wins 70-68….
Today’s notes:
Both teams coming off rare loses where they were beaten up by their opponents. Xavier lost a key player in Sumner to injury versus Nova.
Sumner brought 17 points a game with his assists and scoring. That will be missed. Both teams average 80 Pts but something tells me this will be grinder of a game. 153 pts means these teams score every possesion if they have serious pace. Butler ran out of gas versus Providence so don’t expect them to be too fresh here versus a good Xavier defense. Xavier will come out with attitude on defense realizing that they will be short on offense as well. This is a 5 STAR BEST BET UNDER 153.5
What a joke…t..TOTAL was 153 with 32 seconds left….Xavier had ball just holding to run clock out but bone head from Butler wanted to get some action so decided to steal ball with 1 second left on shot clock…fail and foul…Under losses…..why did he foul what was the point….it seems like when there is something on the line we get sucker punch….then for those that got 154 for insult Butler throws up 30 foot three to say gotcha….

WINNER and LOSER…
TEXAS TECH WINS GAME as they led from start to finish…game was just 35-24 at halftime then Texas and Smart played like VCU and played run and gun and put up 26 points in just 10 minutes something they never did the entire year. ..it didn’t work as they still got blown out ..it just hurt our total play…97 Pts put up in second half…FINAL 82-74
