We enjoyed everything about our brief visit to Cantina Tequila. There is nothing cookie cutter about it. It definitely felt like we were in a Mexican restaurant, but we were delighted by subtle variations in the entire experience.
We walked in around 10:30pm on a weeknight, 30 minutes before closing, but never felt rushed at all. The welcoming bar staff was very hospitable. You are immediately greeted by the slightly dark, Mexican vibe that is slightly different than the traditional Mexican restaurant. A wide array of tequilas made for a fun classic margarita choice.
When a Mexican restaurant brings multiple salsas to our table, they are clearly after our heart. The red and green salsas were both a bit thicker than the usual salsas you find. Each possessed a subtle flavor that was delicious and unique. We ordered grilled shrimp tacos that were delicious. It was clear that everything we ate was an original recipe.
Just when we were becoming concerned about holding up their closing hours, the kind bartender slid a prickly pear margarita sample to us. Cantina Tequila has been open less than a year. We see it as a luxury to have a unique and fun Mexican restaurant available nearby for late night cravings.
