Last Weekend College Basketball, John Fisher Notes

Our top handicapper, John Fisher, sent me these quick notes regarding college basketball games and his top picks in the last few days:

UTAH got me last time as they dominated a tired Stanford team. This time they are HUGE favorites versus a Cal team that has won 5 straight and has two plauers in Wallace and Mathews that have finally started to gel. Kravish will be much needed I’m the inside to help negate some of Utes easy put backs.18 points is absolutely huge. I really respect UTAH but Cal,is 16-9 because they have enough talent to stay in games 5 star GUARANTEE

Badgers seem to get out to huge leads only to let teams back door cover. Illinois has the defense to keep Wosonsin from going on those 20-4 scoring streaks and with Rice back in the lineup the Badgers will be working hard on defense to stop Rice, Hill, and Nunn. This will hurt the, slightly on the offensive end. Don’t be surprised if Illiniois makes this a dog fight. C Egwu will keep things honest with his shot blocking a ability and rebounding. Illinois won’t give Wisconsin, any opportunities to convert TOs to easy baskets. Wisconsin will have to really play their A game. 4 stars

Without Roscoe Allen Stamford becomes a much beatable team now. He caused matchup nightmares and freed up G Brown and C Nastic. Buffaloes have had a season to forget. Injuries have been the biggest problem. Now that they have their startesrs back in tact they seem to have lost some much needed chemistry. Colorado is due to play a decent game. The tougher team wins here as Buffaloes finally get a quality win while Stamford and Ramdle can’t wait to go back home. 4 stars

Is 11 points enough for us to worry about when one team has won 12 straight and the other team has lost 10/11 games and has been blown out in half of those by over DDs!?Northern Iowa could always have a let down and be less interested but is asking a lot. C Tuttle is becoming the player everyone thought he could be. Everything runs through him. This is a small play because like a lot of teams like the Panthers they sometimes Yale foot off throttle when up DDs with just 10 minutes left. I’m holding they are up DDs at half and will not relinquish the rest of the half. 3 stars

Nebraska is woeful on the road.  They only have two viable options on offense with Petteway and Shields, everyone else are decoys pickers etc. Purdue is a load to stop on offense. Take a look at Nebraskas last 6 road games they lost everyone by an avg of 13 pts. Can’t ignore those numbers. Purdue has beaten OSU, Indiana, and IOWA . Schools much better then Nebraska. 5 stars

Pittsburgh has awaken from its slumber. They basically out worked and were physically imposing against UNC. Virginia will match them in the physical department. But…without Anderson Virginia loses their best overall player. Yes they have Gil and Brogdon and will play serious defense but it will be difficult to get separation and blowout victories without Anderson. 10 STAR Guarantee play…Pitt +13
